Supporting your choices at the end of life

    Raise awareness

An ICM survey in 2006 found that 39% people did not realise that relatives had no automatic legal rights to make health decisions for them if they lose capacity.

Meanwhile, in 2008 another survey found that 83% of people had not made an Advance Decision or a health and welfare Lasting Power of Attorney, meaning that they have no legal right to have their wishes followed in the event that they lose mental capacity or the ability to communicate.

Could you help us to tell people about Advance Decisions and rights at the end of life?

You can help us to raise awareness of rights to control treatment at the end of life by:

  • speak to friends and family
  • speak to your local group or network
  • write a letter or article for your local paper
  • leave leaflets at your local doctors surgery or waiting room

We are also interested in any other ways to raise awareness, so if you have any ideas please let us know.

We can provide leaflets and supporting information, so if you think you could help please contact us
